Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is located in Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, which allows you to stay in a quiet, peaceful, and secluded environment. Our wooded and spacious campus is perfect for calm walks through the rich oak trees, a study session in the fresh air, a game of volleyball or a bike ride after class. At the same time, living at SMWC means that you will be close to several metropolitan areas that are only a car ride away.
Surrounding Community
Terre Haute is a mere five miles southeast of our campus; there you have access to an endless variety of places to shop, eat and hang out. You can choose from your favorite chain restaurant, or you can try one of the local eateries. You can shop at the Honey Creek Mall, or you can explore the shops along Wabash Avenue. There are four different cinemas in town, several city parks and more.
SMWC is just outside Terre Haute, Ind. and is located within a few hours
of several major metropolitan areas.
Indianapolis is only an hour and a half east of SMWC on Interstate 70. St. Louis is three hours west, and Chicago and Louisville are four hours away. SMWC rests in the center of these large cities, so you will have access to virtually every creature comfort - while still relishing the quiet solitude of the campus.
Social Life
There are plenty of opportunities for you to meet and interact with students from other colleges. Indiana State University and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology are both within 10 miles of our campus.
