Office of the President
Greetings from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. We eagerly await the blossoming of the beautiful magnolia trees that accompany the arrival of spring at the Woods!
This spring, a group of students and staff will be headed to the Dominican Republic to work with orphaned children and in a shelter for abused women as part of the Alternative Spring Break exemplifying our Catholic values of service. Also, the women’s softball team will be competing in a tournament in Orlando, Florida during spring break. And, we are only weeks away from one of the most treasured days in our students’ career – Ring Day. It is one of my most treasured days each year as I look forward to putting the ring on the finger of each student who has earned the right to wear the ring.
As we head fully into spring and look to what might be in each of our lives, I encourage our faculty, staff, students, alums, parents and friends to consider the following quote by a former president of The Woods, who was also my dear friend and mentor:
Do not fear to commit yourself to what is most sacred and precious to you. Fear more not to commit yourself to it. To seek only the possible and never risk beyond what you know of today is to live only half your life. For there is nothing worse than the uncertain uneasiness of never knowing who you are and of never giving all you are in honesty and joy.

Wishing you all the best,
