Reunion 2011 Highlights
It's true there's no place like home—and there’s also no place like Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Almost 300 alumnae celebrated cherished connections, reminisced about good times, expanded their knowledge about new opportunities for the College and took a whole new set of memories back home from Reunion 2011.
Members of the undergraduate classes of '36, '41, '46, '51, '56, '61, '64, '66, '71, '76, '81, '86, '91, '96, '01 and '06 reconnected with each other and their beloved College. A few activities included the annual Walk in the Woods, horse-drawn wagon tours, spiritual reflection, class meetings, and of course, the parties. There was no shortage of ways to reconnect.
The campus welcomed back the soulful sounds of recording artist, Cari Ray ’96. Whether performing solo or with her band, Ray is a singer/songwriter and performer who stops audiences in their tracks and has critics sitting up to pay attention. Ray’s original music has been compared with the work of artists from Bonnie Raitt to Lucinda Williams to Sheryl Crow.
The weekend culminated at the Reunion Banquet with SMWC National Alumnae Association Board of Directors honoring two alums with its highest awards, the Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and Frances Murphy Rumely awards. Denise Wilkinson, SP,’68, the general superior of the Sisters of Providence received the Guerin Award for her leadership and unshakable faith. Susan Maxheim Carter’ 64 received the Rumely Award for her devotion to volunteerism.
We look forward to welcoming home our alumnae/i, family and friends again next year for the Reunion 2012.
