Parmer Sisters Commit to Pomeroys

Tara Parmer (13) and Shelby Parmer (12) have signed for the 2014-15 season.

SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College head basketball coach Deanna Bradley is proud to announce the signing of Tara and Shelby Parmer to the 2014-15 class.

The Parmer sisters both signed with the Pomeroys on Friday, July 18. “Shelby and Tara are going to bring a great deal of quickness and tenacity to our program,” said head coach Deanna Bradley. “They are well rounded student athletes and fit perfectly into our style of play and as ambassadors for the College.  We are all very excited to have them attending SMWC,” added coach Bradley.

Tara, who is a graduate of Franklin Community High School, was a three sport athlete. She was a member of the volleyball, softball, and basketball team. In basketball, she was named Mid-State All-Conference twice, while earning Johnson County All-County honors once. Tara was also a participant in the Top 100 Workout twice during high school.

“I’m excited to continue my education and basketball career as a Pomeroy,” said Tara.

While at Franklin Community, Tara was involved in the school’s freshman mentor program, as well as a member of the National Honors Society.

Shelby will be joining her sister and the Pomeroys after a career at Vincennes University. While at Vincennes, Shelby averaged 7.8 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game. “I am beyond excited to finish my collegiate career at SMWC,” said Shelby.

Shelby’s high school career saw her twice earn Mid-State All-Conference honors and Johnson County All-County honors. She also was a participant in the Top 60 Workout and earned her team’s mental attitude award.

Shelby graduated from Franklin Community with an honors diploma. She was a member the National Honors Society and, like her sister, served in the freshman mentor program.

The Pomeroys will start the 2014-15 season on the road at IU-Southeast on November 4, 2014in New Albany, Ind.
