Pomeroys fall to Danville Community College, 112-77
November 8, 2012
Sometimes basketball can be a tale of two halves. This was the case as the Pomeroy basketball team found themselves on the wrong end of a 112-77 defeat to the Lady Jaguars of Danville Community College on Wednesday night.
Against a strong Lady Jaguar team, the Pomeroys were able to keep pace in the first half. SMWC trailed by only five at intermission (54-59). However in the second stanza, the Pomeroys were unable to keep that same pace and the Lady Jaguars were able to stretch their lead by double digits en route to their second straight victory.
Brittney Shaner led the Pomeroys with 25 points, shooting 11 of 19 from the field. Mikayla Metheny (14 points) and Whitney Allen (12 points) were also able to put up double-digit performances. Amanda Kelly was strong on the glass and came down with a total of 14 rebounds for the game.
The Pomeroys return to action in their first home contest of the season on Saturday afternoon against Taylor University. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Clinton Recreation Center located in Clinton, Ind.
