Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College head basketball coach Deanna Bradley is proud to announce a new addition to the Pomeroy basketball team.  On Tuesday, April 15, Grace Ziegler signed a letter of intent to join the Pomeroys for the 2014-15 season.

Ziegler currently attends Lake Land College in Mattoon, Ill.  She was a 2012 graduate of Altamont High School in Altamont, Ill.  The 5-foot-5 guard was named the Most Valuable Player at Altamont during her junior and senior seasons.  She was a National Trail All-Conference selection a National Trail All-Conference Scholar Athlete.  Ziegler was named to the Effingham Daily News All-Area Team and the Decatur Herald & Review All-Star Team during her prep career.  At Lake Land College, she helped guide the Lakers to back-to-back 20 win seasons where she averaged 7 points per game, shot 32% from the three-point line, and had a 71% free throw percentage.

“Grace is a very quick guard who can shoot the three as well as get to the basket which fits right into our style of play,” said Bradley.  “We've been watching her for two years at Lake Land College and are very excited to welcome her as a Pomeroy.”

Grace is the daughter of Mike and Anita Ziegler and plans to major in biology at SMWC.
