Fry paces Pomeroys at Calvin Knight Invite

Grand Rapids, Mich. – Led by Logan Fry, each member of the SMWC cross country team earned season-best times at the Calvin Knight Invitational on Saturday morning. Competing with some of the best cross country teams in the Midwest, the Pomeroys ran well as a team, with each runner improving in their race times.
Logan Fry clocked in with her best time of the season, running just below 20 minutes with a time of 19:50 in the five-kilometer course. Erin Harnett and Kesley Wright ran strong races and finished in the number two and three spots for SMWC, crossing the finish line at 21:46 and 21:54. Sarah Wichman (22:20), Corianna Frederick (22:44), and Sarah Hudson (23:01) also posted season-best times for the Pomeroys as they rounded out the team scoring.
As a team, SMWC finished 24th out of 26 teams. The host school Calvin College won the meet with 46 total points and placed seven runners in the top 20. The University of Saint Francis (Ill.) and Case Western University rounded out the top three teams of an elite group.
The Pomeroy cross country team will return to action on Friday, Sept. 20 when they travel to Bloomington, Ind. and take part in the Indiana Intercollegiate race hosted by Indiana University. The women’s race is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start and will take place at the Indiana University Golf Course.
