Saint Louis College of Pharmacy Fall Classic 5K
October 20, 2012
For our final race of the regular season, the SMWC cross country team had a fine showing at the Saint Louis College of Pharmacy Fall Classic 5K. The Pomeroys got off to a fast start off the starting line and never looked back. Stephanie Runyon lead the team with a season best time of 19:17 and was the runner-up for the meet. Logan Fry was next for the team, also running a season best time of 20:11. Lauren Sutton finished third for the team running a huge lifetime best time and finished in 20:54. CJ Barnett and Sarah Hudson finished within seconds of each other to round out the scoring for the team, running 21:39 and 21:42, respectively. Jennifer Hughes came in next for the team in 24:50 and Nicole Nyers brought it home for the team in 25:05.
From a team standpoint this meet was very special. The meet was the last regular season meet for its four seniors who have been on the team since its establishment in 2009. In addition the team finished fourh out of nine teams, beating the fifth place team by one point. As the team prepares for USCAA Nationals on November nine it knows that each point will count for the championship race, too.
The cross country team wants to thank the campus community for all of its support this season and for the continued support as we head to and compete at nationals in Lake Placid, New York.
