Sept. 8, 2013

Hanover, Ind. – Even without two of its top players due to sickness, the SMWC golf team traveled to Hanover over the weekend and took part in the Hanover Invitational.  Both Kelsey Fuqua and Sloane Engle were unavailable to play due to flulike symptoms.  Morgan Patterson, Abby Abel, and Shelby French represented SMWC as individuals during the two-day event.

Patterson had a two-day best for the Pomeroys.  She shot a combined 174 over both days, with her best 18-hole score on Saturday (85).  Abel, also battling health issues, shot a nine-hole best 42 on Sunday at Shadowood Golf Course.  French carded her top score of the weekend (110) during Saturday’s match at Course Sunrise Golf Course.

The Pomeroy golf team returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 10 when they travel to Owensboro, Ky. with a match against Brescia University.  The golf match will take place at Ben Hawes Golf Course and is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
