Pomeroys take third at Robert Morris Invitational

Lemont, Ill. – The SMWC golf team took third place out of four teams at the Robert Morris Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. The Pomeroys finished with a team score of 361, twenty strokes shy of Holy Cross College who came in second. Olivet Nazarene University won the tournament scoring a 327.
Morgan Patterson and Sloane Engle led the Pomeroys, carding an 86 on the 18-hole course. Abby Abel finished with a 92 and Kelsey Fuqua with a 97. A highlight of the afternoon occurred when Abel won a proximity contest for closest to the pin.
The Pomeroy golf team returns back home this weekend when they play a two-day match at Rea Park Golf Course in Terre Haute. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will be hosting the invitational on both Saturday and Sunday. The eight-team invitational is scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday and at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
