Soccer
The Pomeroy soccer program is now in its ninth year, has racked up some serious accomplishments, and has its sights set on new levels of competition. Opponents range from similar small colleges like Franklin College and St. Catharine College to larger institutions like Anderson University. More importantly, the Pomeroys continue to play successful, quality opponents like Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Earlham College, and will continue to steadily build the difficulty of the schedule.
The Pomeroys have had three players selected as USCAA All-Americans, Sarah Greenberg ’04, formerly of Bloomington South High School, Sara Guinn, formerly of South Vermillion High School, and current sophomore Erin Pugh, formerly of Terre Haute North Vigo. The last season saw three more players named as USCAA Academic All-Americans: Amanda Clemons, Jana Orman, and Lauren Sullivan.
The recruiting classes of 2007 and 2008 have allowed the Pomeroys a chance to set entirely new standards of success, often starting seven freshmen in 2007 and planning to start freshmen in 2008 as well. In the coming season, the Pomeroys look to continue the trend of being an attacking team, scoring goals, winning matches, and giving our players great competitive experiences.
Home matches are played on an excellent pitch, located at the northwest corner of campus and the Pomeroys practice on an equally impressive training ground; both are part of the beautiful soccer/softball complex.
