Gary Rodgers resigns as SMWC head softball coach

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College head softball coach Gary Rodgers has announced that he will no longer be coaching the Pomeroys next season. He has resigned from his position, effective May 31.

Pomeroys end season with seventh place finish at USCAA National Championships

The Pomeroy softball team’s dream of winning a national championship came to an end on Tuesday afternoon after suffering its second defeat to the hands of #7 seed Ave Maria (10-9) at the USCAA National Softball Championships in Akron, Ohio. The Pomeroys would finish in seventh place after winning its second game over #9 seed Penn State Beaver 11-1.

Pomeroys split after first day at USCAA National Championships

The Pomeroy softball team dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 defeat to Iowa Wesleyan College, but came through with a 12-1 victory over Virginia University-Lynchburg in the nightcap after the first day at the USCAA National Softball Championships in Akron, Ohio. The loss to Iowa Wesleyan knocked the Pomeroys into the consolation bracket of the double elimination tournament, but remains alive with the win over Virginia University-Lynchburg.

Rose-Hulman rallies twice, defeats Pomeroys in doubleheader

The Pomeroy softball team ended a four-game winning streak against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Sunday, April 7th. SMWC would drop the first game 3-2 and the second game 10-8 on a beautiful, sunny afternoon in Terre Haute.

Pomeroys win fourth straight, sweep Oakland City

The Pomeroy softball team opened their home season yesterday against the Mighty Oaks of Oakland City University. The Pomeroys defeated the Mighty Oaks in the first game with a score of 5-2. In the second game, the Pomeroys came back in the seventh inning to win the game with a final score of 4-3.

Pomeroys sweep Lady Bearcats

The Pomeroy softball team traveled to Owensboro, Ky. and played the Brescia Unviersity Lady Bearcats on Thursday, March 28. The Pomeroys were able to come away with the doubleheader sweep, winning both games by scores of 11-2 and 8-5.

Pomeroys earn split in home opener against Alverno College

The Pomeroy softball team split their first home doubleheader of the season against the Inferno of Alverno College (Wisc.) on Saturday afternoon. The first game resulted in a 4-1 victory for the Pomeroys, but they dropped the nightcap by a final score of 13-11. Due to unplayable field conditions at the SMWC softball field, the games were moved to the Miss America Softball Complex in Terre Haute.

Pomeroys drop season opening doubleheader to St. Ambrose

The Pomeroy softball team’s first weekend of spring games in Davenport, Iowa was full of eye opening positives in preparation for the team’s spring trip next week in Titusville, Florida. The Pomeroys went 0-2 this weekend against the Queen Bees of St. Ambrose University.

Softball Season Preview

Following a hardworking offseason, the Pomeroy softball team will be hitting the field for the first time this season under head Coach Gary Rodgers. This year marks the seventh season for Rodgers who looks to guide his Pomeroys back to the USCAA National Tournament Championship.
