Burnham signs letter of intent with SMWC
June 26, 2013
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College head softball coach Gary Rogers announced a new edition to the Pomeroy softball team. On Wednesday, May 29, Sarah Burnham signed a letter of intent to join the Pomeroys for the 2013-2014 season.
“We are very excited to have a player of Sarah’s experience and athletic abilities joining the Pomeroy softball team,” said Rogers. “Sarah pitchers, plays the middle infield, and has a very good pop in her bat to help pick up our offensive game. She works very hard to perfect her game and is a player every coach and team can benefit from.”
Burnham was a four-year letter winner at Riverton Parke High School in Montezuma, Ind. She currently holds the school record for most RBI’s in a season, and most career and season homeruns. During her senior year, she secured a .583 batting average and led the Panthers in singles, doubles, triples, and homeruns. She also compiled a 16-3 record as a pitcher during her final season.
Sarah was a four-year All-Conference selection at Riverton Parke and helped guide her team to the IHSAA Class A State Championship in 2010. She was a member of the National Honors Society, served as co-student council president, and was co-editor of the yearbook.
Burnham most recently attended Wabash Valley College this past year where she led her team in doubles and had the team’s best ERA (earned run average). She was named to the 2013 Great Rivers Athletic Conference Team and the NJCAA Region XXIV Division and All-Tournament Team.
Burnham is the daughter of Gary and Sally Burnham and plans to major in pre-law at SMWC.
