Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College head softball coach Gary Rogers announced a new edition to the Pomeroy softball team. On Friday, January 4, Kayla Poppe signed a letter of intent to join the Pomeroys for the 2013-2014 season.
“I saw Kayla pitch the Indiana South All-Stars to a win over the Indiana North All-Stars this past summer,” said Rogers. She dominated the game from start to finish. She also hits with power which is a plus for any team. I am very excited to have Kayla as a member of our SMWC softball family as she will bring a lot of positive things to the field.”
Kayla is a pitcher and infield player from Jeffersonville High School in Jeffersonville, Ind. She was a two-time All-Conference Honorable Mention honoree and was named to the News and Tribune All-Area Second Team in 2012.
Poppe, the daughter of Charles and Pauline, plans to study education at SMWC.
