Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College head softball coach Mark Feller has announced a new addition to the Pomeroy softball team.  On Monday, March 17, Stephanie Richardson signed a letter of intent to join the Pomeroys for the 2014-2015 season.

“Stephanie is a tremendous competitor who brings a great deal of talent to the pitching position,” said Feller.  “I am very excited to bring her into the mix of our already very talented group of pitchers for 2014.”

Richardson is currently a senior at Pike Central High School in Petersburg, Ind.  She has been a pitcher and has played second base for the Chargers the past three seasons.  She has also played softball with the DMC-NYX, Southern Indiana Swagger, and Angels Fastpitch club travel teams during her youth career.

At Pike Central, Richardson has been a three-year letterwinner in softball.  During her freshman and sophomore year, she was a recipient of the Underclassman Award for her team.  As a junior, she received the Pitching Award and helped guide her team to an IHSAA sectional championship.  She was also a participant in the Indiana Elite Softball Showcase a year ago.

The multi-sport athlete has also lettered for two years in basketball and one year in golf.  This past golf season, Richardson placed 13th in the Pocket Athletic Conference.  Richardson will play one more softball season this spring with the Chargers before she joins the Pomeroys next fall.

“I am very excited to be a part of the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods softball team and to also attend such a prestigious school that I will receive a great education from,” said Richardson.  “I believe I will fit right in with the team.  I look forward to making memories for the next four years with great girls and I am anxiously anticipating my future career as a Pomeroy!”

Stephanie is the daughter of Darin and Judy Richardson and plans to major in education at SMWC.
