Undergraduate Distance Education

For more than 35 years, the flexible format of our distance education programs have worked for thousands of students.  Through convenience of our distance programs you can earn your college degree while maintaining your job and other responsibilities.

Woods External Degree

In the Woods External Degree (WED) program you have the opportunity to choose from over 25 majors.  You decide on how many classes you'll take, and when and where you'll study.  Coursework is completed at your pace and you receive timely feedback from faculty.  You fit assignments around your busy schedule.

Woods Online

Our new Woods Online program offers you the flexibility to complete your degree entirely online. Students currently have a choice of two majors, with additional majors being offered in August 2010. Accelerated coursework allows you to attend college full-time and graduate in four years or less.

  • Accelerated 8 week courses.
  • Coursework is structured with weekly assignments.

Earn your degree while you work.

With the flexibility to choose when you complete assignments, our distance education programs are ideal for working adults.  You are not required to visit our campus.  Through our distance education programs, all students - except Education majors - can complete their degree without leaving home.

Education majors participate in on-campus educational events at least six times in the course of their studies and must reside within 200 miles of our campus in order to complete student teaching and field experiences.

Your job experience may count as college credit.

Have you worked professionally? You are likely eligible to receive college credit for knowledge you have gained through life experience. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College encourages you to consider the options for documenting this knowledge:

Finish your degree or turn an associate degree into a bachelor's degree with our convenient distance programs.  Learn more about transferring into our distance education programs.  Our partnerships with many local and regional community colleges, permit you to transfer existing college credit and in some cases, complete associate degrees directly into our distance education programs.
