Summer camps at SMWC build a foundation for a successful life. The summer camps at SMWC are designed to develop life skills, instill confidence and foster leadership skills. One of the principles that Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) instills in its graduates is the commitment to service. Students are encouraged to volunteer their time to others in the spirit of giving in many ways at The Woods. This conviction develops in our students and stays with them long after they graduate. Vicki Barrett, 2001 graduate of SMWC, who embodies this value, recently received the Female Volunteer of the Year award from Junior Achievement of the Wabash Valley, Inc. at their annual dinner.

The unanimous board action signaled a strong and clear endorsement for King, who has been instrumental in leading and advancing the mission of the College.

1978 Graduate of the Woods receives Distinguished Alumna Award

Each year, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) honors one of its alumnae during commencement with the Distinguished Alumna Award. The award both honors the recipient and celebrates the prestige her accomplishments bring to the College. It is the highest honor the College bestows upon a graduate in recognition of her noteworthy achievements and valuable professional and personal contributions. During the SMWC commencement ceremony on Sat., May 3, the title of 2014 Distinguished Alumna was awarded to Cindy Hux Martin, 1978 graduate of The Woods.

SMWC senior develops first of its kind - interactive drum table for therapeutic settings

When you hear a song, you tap your foot, maybe even bob your head a little or play a drum solo with your hands. We carry out these actions without even thinking about it because we are so in tune with the beat of the music. Rhythm is an essential element in music and is at the core of many of the methods used in music therapy. So when Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) senior music therapy major, Sherry Bube, saw a drum table at the Experience Music Project (EMP) Museum in Seattle, Wash., the idea for her senior project was born.

For international students at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC), International Ring Day is a culmination of their journey at The Woods. It is a ceremony of reflection, friendship, gratitude and accomplishment. Bittersweet sentiments are in their hearts as they realize how much the experience meant to them as their time at The Woods is coming to an end.
