SMWC International Ring Day - a reminder of time spent abroad

A year can make a big difference, especially when it is a year spent in a foreign country. For international students at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC), International Ring Day is a culmination of their journey at The Woods. It is a ceremony of reflection, friendship, gratitude and accomplishment. Bittersweet sentiments are in their hearts as they realize how much the experience meant to them as their time at The Woods is coming to an end.

SMWC Chorale and Madrigals spring concert

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) Chorale and Madrigals will present the annual spring concert on Sun., April 27, at 3 p.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. This year’s program, “Still I Rise: Celebrating the Strength and Wisdom of Women,” features music that celebrates women including pieces composed by popular young female composers and features female poets.

Saint Mother Theodore Guerin Scholarship recipients announced

Intelligent, accomplished, curious, kind – all qualities that make exceptional candidates for the Saint Mother Theodore Guerin Scholarship, the most prestigious award at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC), named after the College’s foundress. More than that, however, the winners have already taken steps in life to aspire higher and become effective leaders, proficient learners and valued contributors to the community. It is with these qualities in mind that seven students were chosen – two who will receive full-tuition scholarships and five who will received $17,000 scholarships, all renewable for four years.

SMWC alum writes children's book

Telling the story of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College’s (SMWC) foundress, Saint Mother Theodore Guerin, in a way that children can enjoy is what one alumna recently did in the form of a children’s book. Mary K. Doyle, 2005 graduate of the Masters of Pastoral Theology program recently authored “Saint Theodora and Her Promise to God,” her sixth book. Published by the Sisters of Providence, Doyle's book is an inspiring story of how one little girl followed God's call.

Pomeroys give back in NYC

Soup kitchens, immigration offices and food pantries may not sound like spring break, but that’s exactly where 13 Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) students chose to spend theirs. This year’s alternative spring break service trip led SMWC to New York City where students volunteered at Trinity Lutheran Soup Kitchen, Cabrini Immigration Services and Most Holy Trinity – St. Mary.

The Speedbumps, indie folk group and Independent Music Awards (IMA) winner, comes to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC), Cecilian Auditorium on Mon., April 14, at 7:30 p.m. The Speedbumps, from Kent, Ohio, will bring their Midwest vibes and folk-rock groove to The Woods for this spring concert.
