Woods Online student tackles educational challenge

Through state standards and classroom materials, a Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SWMC) intern recently helped the Terre Haute Children’s Museum translate the educational value that they provide to children for educators in the area.

Equine Opportunities Straight from the Horse’s Mouth

The horse industry is very entrepreneurial. Even the multi-million dollar operations are considered small businesses due to their often small number of employees. Jobs in the sector are usually not posted in the classifieds. It’s word of mouth. Woods Students join global campaign for justice

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) joins with activists around the world for One Billion Rising for Justice. The campaign will build upon the energy and momentum that was created in February 2013 when one billion activists in 207 countries and territories came together to rise, strike, and dance, in the biggest mass action in human history, to demand an end to violence against women and girls. Last year, nearly 100 people participated in the event at The Woods.

The Woods presents "Nunsense"

A comedic spin on a fictional tragedy is the basis for this year’s spring musical at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC). The SMWC Music and Theatre Department presents Dan Goggin’s 1985 musical comedy, “Nunsense,” on Feb. 27 through March 2, 2014, at the Cecilian Auditorium.

Deductions, exemptions, credits, contributions – tax season is upon us, and these words have a way of making the best of us feel inferior, especially if the only time you think about taxes is when it’s time to file. For those who need assistance with tax returns, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (SMWC) College provides the services of trained volunteers to those who qualify.

SMWC Chorale and Madrigals to Perform in NY

The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) Chorale and Madrigals, a select ensemble composed of 24 of the school’s most talented voices, accepted the prestigious invitation to perform at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City to commemorate International Women’s Day. The program titled “Choral Music for Women’s Voices” is part of the Distinguished Concerts International New York City (DCINY) Concert Series. This performance, under the baton of Hilary Apfelstadt, Ph.D., director of choral programs at the University of Toronto, will take place on March 10, 2014.

Stephen Beeler named new head volleyball coach

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) head Athletic Director Deanna Bradley has selected Stephen Beeler as the new head volleyball coach. Beeler will serve as SMWC’s head volleyball coach for the first scholarship program. With the expected completion of the new sports and recreation facility, the College adds volleyball as its eighth sport.
