SMWC commemorates Constitution Day

Senator Robert Byrd passed a bill in 2004 designating September 17 as Constitution Day, commemorating the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787. Additionally, the observance provides an opportunity to learn more about the founding document.

SMWC students break cultural boundaries to explore music therapy in a distant land

SMWC professor Sharon Boyle, along with two SMWC music therapy students, participated in a summer immersion experience known as the Jamaica Field Service Project (JAFSP). They volunteered in impoverished areas of Jamaica under supervision, while learning traditional Afro-Caribbean music, exploring the island’s lush terrain and probing the culture’s values and customs.

SMWC’s Tuition Promise bucks the college tuition hike trend for the second year

SMWC’s Tuition Promise is a way for students and families to focus on the quality of their education, not the cost. It means that a steep tuition hike, like the University of Notre Dame’s 3.8 or Purdue University’s 3.5 percent tuition increases, won’t alarm SMWC students in the middle of their education.

The Pomeroy soccer team enters the 2012 season with much anticipation and excitement after a busy recruiting season. The new-look Pomeroys will feature nine new faces to this year’s roster, including plenty of talent at every position. In addition, the Pomeroys will also feature nine returning veterans from last year’s team.

Four-Star Series 2012-2013

The Four-Star Series at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College offers a diverse spectrum of performing arts and esteemed speakers who inspire, challenge and stimulate the imagination. Designed to enhance the College’s curriculum and to enrich cultural exploration, the series is an intricate part of the College’s history. Since its revival in 2008, the Four-Star Series has presented world-renowned lecturers, musicians and productions. All events are free of charge and open to the public.

The Speedbumps, a critically acclaimed indie rock band, is back at SMWC, ready to rock the Wabash Valley on Sept. 5, 2012, in the SMWC Little Theatre in Guerin Hall. The concert starts at 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Pomeroys strengthen basketball team with new recruits

The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) women's basketball team has added three more players to its 2012 recruiting class, head coach Deanna Bradley announced. Madeline Pea, Hailee Rittinger and Brandi McDaniel signed letters of intent and will join the Pomeroys for the 2012-13 season.
