To be nominated for a GRAMMY Award is something that very few people can cross off their bucket list. But you can now count Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choirs Michael Boswell as one of those people. Boswell sang with Conspirare, a professional choral organization in Austin, Texas, on their album, “The Sacred Spirit of Russia,” which was recently nominated for “Best Choral Performance.”

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) recently awarded three high school seniors with the inaugural Wabash Valley High School Scholarship. Gabrielle Comelleri and Kayla Moats, both seniors at Terre Haute North High School, along with Alexia Lear, senior at Rockville High School, received half-tuition scholarships recognizing their unique experiences, aptitudes and abilities to make a difference in their communities.

The Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) recently awarded the Realizing the Dream scholarship to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) sophomore Rian Jones. The scholarship is awarded each year to first generation college students who graduated from an Indiana high school, achieved a superior grade point average as a freshmen in college and demonstrated leadership in activities on campus and in the community.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) celebrated its 176th commencement on Saturday, December 13, 2014. A total of 62 graduates from 15 different states walked in the ceremony.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) received approval today (Dec. 11, 2014) from the Indiana State Board of Nursing to pursue the launch of an undergraduate baccalaureate nursing program.

With the cut of a ribbon, over a decade of dreams and plans came to fruition as Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) students, staff, faculty, alums, trustees, Sisters of Providence and community members celebrated the official opening of the Jeanne Knoerle Sports and Recreation Center on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, exactly one year after the ground breaking of the facility.

Jeff Malloy, dean of students and Student Activities Committee (SAC) advisor at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) recently received the 2014 Midwest Advisor of the Year award at the annual Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) Conference in Chicago, Ill. Malloy is now eligible for Advisor of the Year at the national APCA Programming Conference, March 18-22, 2015, in Jacksonville, Fla.

“This isn’t something we can just give a final ‘ta daaaaaa’ and be done with,” Sherry Bube, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) music therapy graduate, practically sings while presenting her senior grant-funded project at the 2014 Ball Venture Fund Colloquium. Although Sherry Bube graduated this past spring, she has continued to work diligently on the final stages of B.E.A.T.! (Bring Everyone Around the Table), her project to design and create an electronic drum table for use in therapeutic settings.

Students in the Master of Arts in Art Therapy (MAAT) program at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) now have the opportunity to achieve counseling licensure. With the counseling licensure track now a part of the MAAT program, the College adds a range of expertise in faculty and a more dynamic interplay between courses.
