Nichole Nyers signs with SMWC

The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College cross-country assistant coach Aaron Ballenger announced the signing of Nicole Nyers (Granger, Ind.) from Marian High School.

Nyers was a regional qualifier in her freshman year at Marian, lettered for four years and recognized as the Kiwanis Athlete of the Month during her senior year.

“I selected Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College because I was so impressed with the community, opportunities and art programs that are offered,” Nyers said. “It felt like the best fit for me spiritually, academically and athletically.  I feel very blessed and I am thankful!”

Nyers also brings many of the service and leadership qualities that are highly sought at The Woods. She is the recipient of the coveted Saint Mother Theodore Guerin scholarship, which recognizes students who have used their unique experiences, aptitudes and abilities to make a difference in their local communities and beyond.

Nyers, the daughter of Tony and Lisa Nyers, plans to study art and design.

“Nicole is a very talented athlete who has improved every year,” Ballenger added. “Her drive and passion in running and academics make her a great addition to our program.”
