The horse industry is very entrepreneurial. Even the multi-million dollar operations are considered small businesses due to their often small number of employees. Jobs in the sector are usually not posted in the classifieds. It’s word of mouth. Networking is essential to succeeding in the equine industry, and networking is exactly what Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) and the Indiana Horse Council will offer students at the Mane Event – Equine Professional Applications on Fri., Feb. 28, 2014.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College freshman basketball player Ja’Breena Gardner was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Women’s Division I Player of the Week, the national office announced on Tuesday, Feb 4.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) joins with activists around the world for One Billion Rising for Justice. The campaign will build upon the energy and momentum that was created in February 2013 when one billion activists in 207 countries and territories came together to rise, strike, and dance, in the biggest mass action in human history, to demand an end to violence against women and girls. Last year, nearly 100 people participated in the event at The Woods.

A comedic spin on a fictional tragedy is the basis for this year’s spring musical at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC). The SMWC Music and Theatre Department presents Dan Goggin’s 1985 musical comedy, “Nunsense,” on Feb. 27 through March 2, 2014, at the Cecilian Auditorium.

The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) Chorale and Madrigals, a select ensemble composed of 24 of the school’s most talented voices, accepted the prestigious invitation to perform at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City to commemorate International Women’s Day. The program titled “Choral Music for Women’s Voices” is part of the Distinguished Concerts International New York City (DCINY) Concert Series. This performance, under the baton of Hilary Apfelstadt, Ph.D., director of choral programs at the University of Toronto, will take place on March 10, 2014.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) head Athletic Director Deanna Bradley has selected Stephen Beeler as the new head volleyball coach. Beeler will serve as SMWC’s head volleyball coach for the first scholarship program. With the expected completion of the new sports and recreation facility, the College adds volleyball as its eighth sport.

On a snowy winter day, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) celebrated its 174th commencement on Dec. 14, 2013. Nearly 60 students crossed the stage in the ceremony.

For Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, a new year will mean a new major program. When students enroll in Woods Online to begin in January 2014, an online option will be available – RN to BSN degree completion program. This program seeks to help women and men who hold an associate’s degree and nursing license complete a bachelor’s degree.

For military personnel and their spouses earning a college degree just became a little easier. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College announces a tuition discount for military students and spouses enrolling in its distance education program, Woods Online. Those who have served in the military will receive the discount to offer a special tuition rate of $250 per credit hour.
