Shaner breaks all-time scoring record

It took ten years and ten months – a new record has finally been broken by one player on the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) basketball team. On Friday, December 28, 2012, Brittney Shaner became the all-time individual leading scorer in SMWC basketball history. She surpassed the mark during the game against Indiana Tech at the SportONE Shootout tournament in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Swearing off instruments, Six Appeal uses a cappella singing to span decades of classic oldies, current chart toppers, and catchy original tunes. Six Appeal will share their distinctive style at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College on January 10, 2012, at 8 p.m., in the Cecilian Auditorium.

The Woods presents National Players in "Animal Farm"

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College presents “Animal Farm” by the National Players, as the next installment of its esteemed Four-Star Series of events. National Players, the nation’s longest-running classical touring company, will perform its unique version of George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” on January 16, 2012, in the Cecilian Auditorium on campus at 7 p.m. The performance is free and open to the public.

The Woods' first winter commencement

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College graduates officially turned their tassels and received their diplomas during the institution's first winter commencement ceremony. For the first time in the College’s 172-year history, administrators, faculty, staff, students and parents were on hand to take part in the event that was held due to the increased number of graduates and their families during the spring commencement.

Equine holiday ride at The Woods

This time of year, traditions are everywhere, but there’s nothing like the distinctive annual equine holiday ride at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC). On Monday, December 10, 2012, the seniors, faculty, staff and special guests of the SMWC Department of Equine Studies will ride majestic horses, singing Christmas carols as they journey across the campus.
