Best Midwest Colleges 2015

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) moves up the ranks from number 18 to number 16 as one of the best regional colleges in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report in its 2015 Edition of Best Colleges. The exclusive rankings, of more than 1,800 colleges and universities nationwide, are available today according to U.S. News & World Report and will also be published in the September issue.

For the 7th consecutive year, The Woods is ranked in the Best Regional Colleges in the publication’s compilation of the nation’s colleges and universities in this category. Among the 71 top-ranked Midwest colleges, SMWC was recognized for having one of the highest percentages of classes under 20 students at 92 percent and 41 percent of freshmen were in the top 25 percent of their high school class. Additionally, the College touts a 60 percent graduation rate.

“The news again is good. We are proud to be consistently recognized as one of the top colleges in the Midwest,” said Dottie King, Ph.D., president of SMWC. “We will continue our commitment to be a part of innovative solutions in higher education and take a leadership role in women’s education and undergraduate online education.”

With a low faculty-to-student ratio, diverse leadership and service opportunities, and many options for faculty-student research, The Woods provides numerous paths for students’ exploration at home and abroad.
