Summer Camp at The Woods

Girls and boys learn leadership skills, make new friends, discover new interests and build self-esteem in a safe and beautiful environment in summer camps at Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC). Young people gain valuable hands-on experience through a variety of summer camps giving them irreplaceable experiences: exploring a natural habitat, discovering the world of technology, developing horse care and riding skills, seeing the world differently through photography, considering careers in health care, nurturing creativity through music and theatre and learning about bike safety and maintenance.

All camps begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Before- and after-camp care, lunch and snack are provided. Enrollment is limited. Register today at

TWIST – a STEMsational Summer Enrichment Camp for Girls!

Day camp for girls entering grades 6-8 as of Sept. 2016

Today’s Women in STEM Tomorrow (TWIST) is an exciting, hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The TWIST summer camp is a fun-filled week of indoor and outdoor science adventures! Explore a natural habitat and get up close and personal with some of the native residents; uncover the boundless possibilities of the digital world; discover the power of electricity and other sources of energy; and test wits against the tallest trees in The Woods.


Day camp for boys and girls entering grades 6-9

Learn photography techniques, tips and tricks. Benefit from the beautiful SMWC campus and natural environment to capture some amazing photographs. Campers are required to bring their own cameras for this camp. (Digital cameras only.)

Equestrian - Beginners

Day camp for boys and girls entering grades 2-10

Learn all about horses including safe practices when handling horses as well as how to bridle and halter correctly, lead, ride, groom and care for a horse. Horses are provided for this beginner equestrian camp.


Day camp for boys and girls entering grades 4-6

Learn the rules of the road, maintenance, and bike assembly and enjoy bike riding with friends around campus. Campers must bring their own bike, helmet and bike lock.

Music Theatre

Day camp for boys and girls entering grades 8-12

Music Theatre will be a five-day camp focusing on how to audition for and be in a musical. The camp will be held on the SMWC theatre department stage and will teach acting, singing and dancing.  There will be a final performance at the end of the week featuring solos and group numbers learned throughout the week.  Some memorization work will be expected to be done during non-camp hours.

June 20-24

Equestrian - Intermediate Riders

Day camp for boys and girls entering grades 3-12

Building from the beginner equine camp, campers will work on more advanced techniques and form. They will need to know how to saddle and mount the horse without assistance as well as walk, trot and canter.

Equestrian - Advanced Riders

Day camp for boys and girls entering grades 3-12

Receive one-on-one instruction in specific areas of interest, trouble shoot areas for improvement, get ready for show season, learn a number of different aspects of the equine industry and learn the importance of form to function for horse owners. Campers must bring their own horse for this advanced rider camp.

The Oakley Academy – Environmental Science

Day camp for girls entering grades 6-9 as of Sept. 2016

The Oakley Academy will be a five-day camp emphasizing ecology and the environment. The focus will be on our own Lake Le Fer and its habitat restoration with outdoor fieldwork and hands-on activities that include identifying common local species, addressing habitat and biological diversity, and testing soil and water quality.


Day camp for boys and girls entering grades 9-12

Experience hands-on activities including a trip to a simulation center, ambulance simulation, mini-medical lectures, nutritional lectures and a focus on professional careers in the health field.


Four-day camp for boys and girls entering grades 9-12

Basic theory for songwriters, protecting your voice, analyzing hit songs, using music technology, turning an idea into a song, simple accompaniment patterns and performing/recording a song.

Requirements: Must be able to play piano or guitar (private lessons for at least 1 year or equivalent skill). Must be able to read at least treble clef, must be willing to sing and play in front of camp peers.
