Today’s challenging business climate offers an opportunity for businesses and organizations to access talented student interns who are willing to put their creative energy to work, and on Thursday, March 12, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) and Indiana INTERNnet will host a luncheon event to help employers realize how they can maximize the benefits of internship programs.

“Indiana Internships: Moving Students from the Classroom to the Boardroom” will be held at SMWC from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Le Fer Hall Ballroom. Cost is $15 per person, which includes lunch and an internship manual.

During the event, Pam Norman, executive director of Indiana INTERNnet, will show attendees how easy it is to get an internship program designed and implemented, and an interactive panel of experienced internship local employers will highlight how to make a solid business case for hiring an intern.

Those in attendance will also receive information on how to design internship programs for their businesses and organizations, and they will get a chance to give direct feedback to SMWC staff and faculty about the quality of education for tomorrow’s workforce. Internship best practices contained in the Indiana Employer’s Guide to Internships will also be shared.

To register and make payment arrangements for this luncheon event, contact the SMWC Career Development Center at 812-535-5188 or career@smwc.edu. Registration deadline is March 6, 2009.
