Jennie Mitchell, Ph.D., professor of business at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC), is included in the 2008-2009 Edition of Who's Who of American Women. The publication is a single, authoritative source featuring the careers and credentials of America's most successful women.
Mitchell, who has taught at SMWC for 17 years, is experienced in a variety of instructional technologies, and the College recently appointed her as the director of a new online program, which is expected to launch in January 2010.
She has authored several book chapters, written podcast scripts, and has developed interactive Excel problems for six accounting textbooks. She also completed a book on instructional technology during a recent sabbatical leave.
She holds a CPA and CMA and earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum, Instruction, & Media Technology in 2000 from Indiana State University. A practicing accountant and member of non-profit boards, she also has expertise in corporate and non-profit accounting and finance.
For more than 100 years, Who's Who in America has provided accurate, concise biographies of notable Americans. That was the mission of founder, Albert Nelson Marquis, whose First Edition in 1899 featured 8,602 distinguished people. Today, the Marquis Who's Who family of directories has grown to include the biographies of millions of leaders and achievers from around the world, and from every significant field of endeavor.
The 2008-2009 Edition of Who's Who of American Women provides ready access to the credentials and achievements of the most noteworthy women in the country, including federal officials, mayors of major cities, principal officers of selected businesses, elected and appointed state officials, outstanding educators from major colleges and universities, principal figures of cultural and artistic institutions, heads of major women’s organizations, recipients of major awards and honors, and members of selected honorary institutions.
Mitchell is a professor in SMWC’s Business, Art, & Media (BAM) Department. The Department offers a wide variety of majors and minors including accounting, advertising, art, business administration, computer information systems, digital media, film studies, graphic design, human resource management, journalism, marketing, and professional communication/writing. This unique blend of majors provides opportunities to work collaboratively, develop critical problem-solving skills, and excel in the use of technology.
SMWC offers undergraduate campus, undergraduate distance and graduate degree programs with an emphasis in business.
