About Online Education
Let our 38 years of distance experience make your experience an incredible one.
Unique Advantage
The Woods Online program fosters student learning through study on an independent basis combined with significant faculty interaction. We encourage as much personal contact as possible, making us a great choice for distance learners. Our faculty empowers adult learners by sharing their passion and experience, while you embrace your desire to learn in a format that fits your schedule.
Affirming our commitment to all students, our liberal arts core curriculum has similar requirements for online and campus. Both online and campus students receive the same top-notch education taught by the same dedicated and accomplished professors.
A Liberal Arts Education
In today’s ever-changing world, we continue to advance the liberal arts education that defines us. We remain devoted to creating a passion for learning needed to produce exceptional communicators, leaders, problem solvers, creative thinkers, and most importantly, well-rounded human beings who will make a lasting impact in their careers and communities.
Convert Life Experiences into College Credit
We recognize learning takes place on many different platforms. Knowledge from life experiences gained through the workplace or community service may earn you college credit. This is a great way to reach your goal of degree completion sooner than you might expect.
Military-Friendly
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is part of a consortium of national higher education associations working with the Department of Defense and all military branches to meet the educational needs of service personnel and their families. Participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program, when combined with the Post 9/11 GI Bill, means that veterans who have served on active duty for at least 36 aggregate months since 9/11/01 and who meet college admission requirements will have the opportunity to attend Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College tuition-free.
Accreditation
The College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and approved for teacher training by the Indiana Department of Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Academic Advising
Upon entrance into the Woods Online program, you will be assigned an academic advisor to help plan and monitor your progress. You advisor helps insure you are meeting graduation requirements and are making sufficient progress to complete your goal of a college education. At the start of each semester you will meet or communicate with your advisor to plan the courses you will take and answer any questions you may have.
Interacting with Your Professors
Once you've registered for courses you will communicate directly with your instructor. Online instructors are professional faculty members with extensive expertise in the areas they teach. You'll get the opportunity to work with dozens of different faculty members as you earn your degree. Your instructors will grade your work and insure you are meeting academic goals.
