Italy: A Festival of the Heart
Program # 10257 - Week prior to Labor Day, every year.
This is a week to explore and celebrate Italy: the land, the people, the culture from the Renaissance to modern times. Classes will delve into Italian history, explore art, music, and the impact and influence of the Roman Catholic Church. Participants will visit the annual Little Italy Festival in Clinton, IN. Learn about the rich Italian heritage of this small “Coal Town". Visit the Coal Town Museum, play Bocci Ball, stomp grapes and visit the Wine Garden. You’ll hear and speak the language, attend a wine tasting, and sample locally prepared Italian cuisine.
The Covered Bridges of Indiana
Program # 6714 - Always in early October
Cross slowly “at a walk” when you visit several of Indiana’s 32 covered bridges in Park County, The Covered Bridge Capital of the World. You will learn the history and future of these national treasures. Study their construction methods and meet the engineers who work to restore them and volunteers who maintain them. Enjoy the legends, the folklore, and the music that these bridges have inspired. While visiting the bridges; trips to the nationally known Covered Bridge Festival are planned. Sample Indiana country cooking and visit various Hoosier country sites.
