Online Degree Scholarships and Financial Aid

Students enrolled in the Woods Online program are eligible for a wide variety of institutional scholarships and federal/state (Indiana) student aid. 

The following scholarships are for the 2016-2017 academic year.

The criteria listed determine eligibility only and do not guarantee receipt of the scholarship.  All scholarships are subject to reduction or replacement by other offers or awards.

SMWC Woods Online Scholarship (Freshmen)

  • Amount: Up to $2,000 award towards the cost of tuition only. Dollar amount is based on enrollment status.
  • Qualifications: Admitted, degree-seeking student in the Woods Online program as at least half-time status can receive the award for the duration of their enrollment. Applies to students who are entering college for the first time with a minimum high school GPA of 2.5 or passing TASC (formerly GED).  Cannot be combined with other transfer related scholarships.
  • Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA, be at least half-time status and making satisfactory academic progress towards their degree.

SMWC Transfer Grant

  • Amount: Up to $2,000 award towards the cost of tuition only. Dollar amount is based on enrollment status.
  • Qualifications: Admitted, degree-seeking student in the Woods Online program as at least half-time status can receive the award for the duration of their enrollment. The student must transfer a minimum of 12 credit hours from a regional/nationally accredited school with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Cannot be combined with any other transfer award.
  • Renewable Requirements: Student must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA, be at least half-time status and making satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship.

SMWC Legacy Grant

  • Amount: Up to $1,000 awarded to cost of tuition only. Dollar amount is based on enrollment status.
  • Qualifications: Admitted, degree-seeking student in the Woods Online program as at least half-time status can receive the award for the duration of their enrollment. The student must be a descendent of an SMWC graduate or current student (who has completed at least 12 hours at SMWC). The relative must be a parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt/uncle, niece/nephew, in-law or direct cousin. Can combine with a transfer award only (cannot be combined with the PTK, Military, RN to BSN or SMWC Teach.
  • Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA, be at least half-time status and making satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship.

Military Veterans Grant

  • Amount: Unlimited number of awards to offer a tuition rate of $250 per credit hour.
  • Qualifications: Admitted students and spouses attending SMWC in a degree seeking program can receive the award for the duration of their enrollment. Grant is awarded to the military service members or spouses who have served or are currently serving in the military. Documentation required in the form of DD-214 or NOBE, marriage certificate (if applicable) and Military discount form (located in "Forms and Resource"). Cannot be combined with any other awards.
  • Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree.

SMWC Teach

  • Amount: Up to $2,000 award towards tuition only, based on enrollment status.
  • Qualifications: Admitted, degree-seeking students in the Woods Online program that are at least half-time status and participating in the Indiana Early Childhood Education Program.The award can only be combined with transfer awards.
  • Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA, at least half-time status and making satisfactory academic progress towards their degree.

Healthcare Partner Grant - (RN to BSN students only)

  • Amount: Unlimited number of awards to offer a special tuition rate of $297 per credit hour.
  • Qualifications: Qualifying admitted students attending at least half-time in the RN to BSN program. Students must be employed by one of our healthcare partners (please contact Admissions for more information). No separate application required and cannot be combined with other awards.
  • Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and successfully progress towards completion of the program. All courses require a grade of "C" or better to progress.

Post 911 GI Bill/Yellow Ribbon Program

  • Amount: The Indiana State highest cost of tuition as determined by Veterans Administration. SMWC and VA will award funds to cover the total cost of tuition and fees.
  • Qualifications: Qualifications determined by the Department of Veteran Affairs as determined by the Post 911 GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program requirements. Cannot be combined.
  • Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship

Woods Online students are fully eligible to receive financial assistance if they meet and maintain certain requirements. These conditions will vary from source to source.
