Woods Online Scholarships and Financial Aid
Students enrolled in the Woods Online program are eligible for a wide variety of institutional scholarships and federal student aid. In many cases, the amount of aid received is based upon financial need and course load.
Institutional Scholarships
Ivy Tech Grants
- Amount: Unlimited number of $2,000 awards towards the cost of tuition only. Dollar amount is based on enrollment status.
- Qualifications: Qualifying admitted transfer students attending SMWC half-time in a degree seeking program can receive the award for the duration of their enrollment if the student maintains part-time status. Applies to students who graduated from Ivy Tech since 2000. No separate applications required. Ivy Tech Grants cannot be combined with any other awards.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of eight semesters.
Corporate Connections
- Amount: 10% tuition discount.
- Qualifications: Student and/or spouse must be employed at a Corporate Connections partner organization
- Renewable Requirements: Renewable each year even if the student leaves the Corporate Connections Partner organization.
Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (IECC)
Stackable with merit and other awards
- Amount: 10% Unlimited number of $2,000 award towards the cost of tuition only.
- Qualifications: Qualifying admitted transfer students who graduated from an Illinois Eastern Community College and are attending SMWC half-time in a degree seeking program can receive the award for the duration of their enrollment if the student maintains half-time status. No separate applications required. IECC Grants cannot be combined with any other awards.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of 8 semesters
Post 911 GI Bill/Yellow Ribbon Program
- Amount: The Indiana State highest cost of tuition as determined by Veterans Administration. SMWC and VA will award funds to cover the total cost of tution and fees.
- Qualifications: Qualifications determined by the Department of Veteran Affairs as determined by the Post 911 GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program requirements. Cannot be combined.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of 8 semesters.
Military Veterans Grant
- Amount: Unlimited number of $3,000 awards towards the cost of tuition. Based on enrollment status - must maintain half-time status (6 hours or more).
- Qualifications: Qualifying admitted students attending SMWC half-time in a degree seeking program can receive the award for the duration of their enrollment if the student maintains part-time status. Grant is awarded to the military service members who have served on active duty or are currently serving in the reserves (documentation required in the form of DD-214 or NOBE), spouse and/or dependent. No separate applications required. Can be combined with any other awards.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree. The $3,000 grant is applied yearly towards the cost of tuition for all qualifying students based on full-time enrollment. The grant is renewable for 6 years for part-time students and 3 years for full-time students while the student maintains satisfactory academic progress and enrolls in at least 2 semesters each academic year.
Continued Education Grant
- Amount: Unlimited number of $2,000 awarded to cost of tuition only. Dollar amount is based on enrollment status.
- Qualifying students attending SMWC half - time in a degree seeking program can recieve the award for the duration of their enrollment (total 6 semesters) if the student maintains part-time status. Money awarded to students who transfer form a community college that we, SMWC, have an articulation agreement in place. Can be combined with other scholarships.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.3 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for an additional 6 semesters.
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK)
- Amount: Unlimited number of $1,000 awarded to cost of tuition only. Dollar amount is based on enrollment status.
- Qualifying admitted students attending SMWC half-time in a degree seeking program that have been recognized by the National Phi Theta Kappa organization. No separate applications required.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for an additional three years.
Kappa Beta Delta (KBD)
- Amount: Unlimited number of $1,000 awarded to cost of tuition only.Dollar amount is based on enrollment status.
- Qualifications: Qualifying admitted students attending SMWC half-time in a degree seeking program that have been recognized by the National KBD organization. No separate applications required. Can be combined with other scholarships.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for an additional six semesters.
SMWC Teach
- Amount: Unlimited number of up to $2,000 dependent on enrollment status.
- Qualifications: This award is offered by SMWC and applied towards the cost of tuition for male and female Ivy Tech Community College graduates who are accepted as at least half-time students in SMWC's Woods Online program. Grants can be awarded yearly for up to six (6) semesters if the student maintains at least half-time status and meets renewal criteria. Full time (12+ credit hours/semester) =2,000. Less than full time= $1,000/semester. less than half-time, not eligible. Can be combined.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of 8 semesters.

Federal and State-Based Financial Aid and Grants
Woods Online program students are fully eligible to receive financial assistance if they meet and maintain certain requirements. These conditions will vary from source to source. Feel free to contact the Office of Financial Aid with questions, or for assistance with applying for federal and state-based financial aid.
Woods Online students may be eligible to receive:
- federal direct-lending subsidized and unsubsidized student loans,
- federal Perkins loans,
- Indiana education grants, and
- other federal and Indiana state-based aid.
