January is a time of new beginnings for most. At SMWC we’re beginning a new academic semester and students have new opportunities to explore their career interests, gain experience, and position themselves for future success! The Career Development Center (CDC) offers a wide-array of services and resources, specifically tailored to meet the needs of today’s students. But…no matter how many programs are offered, it won’t help your student if she doesn’t take advantage of the opportunities. So, whether she’s still trying to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up or has a laser beam focus on her primary goal, the CDC staff can offer support and guidance.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College offers a text alert subscription service through e2Campus that can send messages whenever there is an emergency or school closure due to weather to either a cell phone or an email account. We know that you want to know immediately should there be a threat on campus. This is the quickest way we can get that information to you. The subscription is free – the only cost is the charge your cell phone provider may charge you for receiving a text message.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, commonly known as FERPA or the Buckley Amendment, is a federal law enacted in 1974. FERPA grants parents of children under the age of 18 the right to access their children’s education record, to seek amendment of a record, to consent to disclosure of personally identifiable information from the records, and the right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education.
“Do I need to be there?” is a question we often hear. Parents of first-time college students are encouraged to attend the first day of Orientation. Not only will you learn of the resources available for your daughter, but also those available to you.
