Off-Campus Living
Students whose permanent address is within 60 miles of SMWC may choose to commute to campus. Permanent residence is defined as the home of the student’s immediate family (parental), the home of the student’s legal guardian or the independent student’s legal address. All other full-time students in the campus-based program are expected to live on campus with the following exceptions:
- Students that are 24 years of age or older; or,
- Students that are considered financially independent as defined by Financial Aid Regulations.
Part-time students (11 hours or less) in the campus-based program or those enrolled primarily in the distance learning format are not bound by residency requirements.
All commuter students are required to complete a Commuter Status Application form. Determination of application will be sent to the student by email or postal mail. If a student is denied commuter status, they can request a meeting with the vice president for Student Life to review their application.
