Express yourself!

Prepare to flex your creative muscles with a degree in art

Since Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College’s founding in 1840, we pride ourselves on providing an atmosphere where the arts can flourish. This is accomplished with a strong curriculum coupled with participation in the arts.

  • Our students walk into a job interview with a portfolio of professional-quality work
  • Success is our mission. Just like the big schools, we offer tutoring and learning centers. But with generous office hours and small class sizes, you won’t get lost in the shuffle
  • We’ve been educating students for 180 years – and always on the cutting edge. We taught girls long before everyone else did. And we were one of the first schools in the nation to offer distance/online learning. Old doesn’t mean out-of-date – we’re continually evolving, and we’ll teach you to do the same
  • Our beautiful campus boasts century-old architecture and cutting-edge facilities. You can check out the online tour, but it really doesn’t do it justice

Clarity. Certainty. Savings.

SMWC has taken the guesswork and confusion out of paying for college with the SMWC Tuition Guarantee.

Prepare for your future

Paths that an arts degree prepares you for:

  • Art director
  • Art studio manager
  • Art teacher
  • Art therapist
  • Curator
  • Illustrator

Pair it with a pre-art therapy concentration and you can attend a graduate program in the art therapy field. We even have one here at The Woods! Or, combine with a graphic design minor and work in an ad agency. If teaching is your passion, you can add on an education degree to influence the next generation of artists. Whatever path you choose, the fundamental skills you’ll gain from SMWC will serve you well.
