News | 01.31.2017

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) affirms our commitment as a welcoming environment of higher learning – a place where diversity of thought and culture is celebrated and respected. As a Catholic institution of higher education, we embrace a higher calling. We promote human dignity, compassion and social justice. In response to the executive order on refugees, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops issued a statement which reflects these fundamental values.

SMWC fully supports our international students as valued members of our campus that enriches our community.

SMWC President Dottie King, Ph.D., stands with the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU) and more than 140 other college and university presidents in opposition to President Trump’s executive order. King added her signature to the statement from the ACCU.

Join us as we pray for peace in the world, in our country and in our hearts.

God, our heavenly father, we draw near to thee with thankful hearts because of all thy great love for us. We thank thee most of all for the gift of thy dear Son, in whom alone we may be one. We are different from one another in race and language, in material things, in gifts, in opportunities, but each of us has a human heart, knowing joy and sorrow, pleasure and pain. We are one in our need of thy forgiveness, thy strength, thy love; make us one in our common response to thee, that bound by a common love and freed from selfish aims we may work for the good of all and the advancement of thy kingdom.

Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
