Classes are over for the semester, so you may have more time on your hands. There are still plenty of ways to make the most of your summer, though. Be sure to keep your momentum throughout the summer – August will be here before you know it! Check out some tips to stay ahead this summer!

1. Advance Yourself Academically
Just because your work for the semester at The Woods is over, doesn’t mean you have to stop gaining skills. Using your summer to obtain valuable work experience through internships or part-time jobs related to your field of study can help you grow in just a short time before the fall semester. Along with experience, reading a book or two can also keep yourself in tune to make for an easier transition this fall.

2. Build Your Network
Attending networking events like workshops or even connecting with professionals in your field through LinkedIn or in your hometown will only help you build your network in the future and open doors for future job opportunities.

3. Travel
Who doesn’t like a good adventure? Explore new places, whether it’s traveling abroad or discovering hidden gems in your own city. Traveling can broaden your perspective and expose you to different cultures, benefiting you both personally and professionally. After all, what is summer break without fun experiences?

4. Health and Wellness
Prioritize your physical and mental health by staying active, eating well and practicing self-care. Little practices like going for walks, doing yoga or even just reading a book can help ease your mind. Creating healthy exercise habits can also increase your motivation and energy levels. Use the summer to establish healthy habits that you can carry into the next academic year.

5. Reflect and Relax
Reflecting on the semester ahead and lining out your schedule will only help you have a successful semester. While it’s important to be productive over the summer, be sure to balance your preparation and relaxing. By balancing your time between setting goals and enjoying a break, you’ll be recharged and refocused by the time August arrives.
