1. Why did you choose SMWC?
I first discovered Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College through volleyball, but what truly drew me in was its strong Catholic roots. When I toured campus, I immediately fell in love with the beauty of The Woods and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The peaceful environment, along with the kindness of the staff and faculty, made it feel like home from the start. Receiving the Saint Mother Theodore Guerin Scholarship was the moment that truly sealed my decision—I knew SMWC was where I was meant to be.
2. Why did you choose your major?
I have always wanted to be a nurse. From a young age, I felt called to serve others, and nursing gives me the perfect opportunity to answer that call. Through this profession, I am able to serve the Lord while living out my passion for helping people in their time of need. What I love about the Nursing program at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is how it weaves faith into clinical practice, reminding us that caring for others is both a skill and a ministry. I am truly grateful for this program and the way it strengthens both my education and my calling.
3. What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is St. Joseph’s Lake. I often take walks around campus to decompress, and I always seem to end up there. The lake is the perfect place to pray, reflect and relax; it’s where I feel most at peace at The Woods.
4. What is a favorite memory you have from your Woods experience?
My favorite memory at The Woods would have to be either Ring Day or the Acorn Ceremony during senior year. Ring Day is such a special tradition, something every student looks forward to. For me, it marked all of my hard work and accomplishments, especially as a nursing student who had her fair share of struggles along the way. The Acorn Ceremony, on the other hand, was bittersweet. It was the moment it truly sank in that my time at The Woods was winding down. That experience filled me with gratitude for all the opportunities and memories I’ve been given here, while also allowing me to pass on the same virtues and traditions to the incoming freshmen.
5. How do you plan to stay connected to SMWC after graduating?
I plan to stay connected to The Woods through the relationships I’ve built with fellow students, my professors and especially my dear friend, Sister Alice Ann, who has been such a meaningful part of my college journey. I know that staying in touch and coming back to visit will always bring me home to this community. But even beyond that, I’ll remain connected through the lessons and virtues The Woods has instilled in me. My Woods Ring will always serve as a symbol of the growth I’ve experienced here, while the memories and values I carry with me will ensure that The Woods is always a part of who I am.
