A message from the Advancement Officer

Spring is a season of possibility, wonder, growth and more. When the spring season hits Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, the campus’s beauty is indescribable. From watching the grass regain its green to watching the trees go through a revival stage, and we can’t forget the beautiful magnolia trees in full bloom. There is a feeling you get when watching nature flourish, and the same can be said for students at The Woods.
As advancement officer at SMWC, I often find myself reflecting on the seasonal transformations that take place within our students. Whether it be through leadership opportunities, joining organizations or seeing them secure a job to begin after Commencement, there is a sense of fulfillment when you witness the mission of SMWC in action. Growth isn’t always immediate, but witnessing a student blossom is an experience like no other.
From conversations with peers that expand our horizons to learning from professors who challenge us to think critically, The Woods is filled with people who impact a student’s journey every single day.
Not all impactors are physically on campus, though. Because of those who invest in The Woods, there are constant reminders that this place is one-of-a-kind. A gift to SMWC isn’t just a monetary donation; it’s proof that you believe in a student’s path to earning their degree and changing the world. Much like caring for a plant, where you must water it and put it in the sunlight, the same care is put into our students across all programs by the dedicated faculty, staff, alumni and friends.
Spring reminds us that transformation is powerful. Watching a student grow and become a strong-minded leader is incredible. When you invest in the education that SMWC provides, you’re not just supporting current students. You’re rooting for future generations and encouraging them to bloom.
