A message from the Advancement Officer

The leaves are green, and summer is upon us as Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College just conferred another set of degrees, applauding the Class of 2026. Commencement was a joyous day as campus was filled with graduates and their families celebrating their dedication and remarkable achievements.

The day always brings me back to when I graduated with my bachelor’s degree from SMWC. I was so proud, and yet, uncertain of where my journey would take me in future years. My mind kept reverting back to two quotes from Saint Mother Theodore Guerin: “We cannot do our work if we all stay in the nest,” and “We are not called to do all the good possible, but only that which we can do.”
Providence prevailed in my life (personally and professionally), and I’m thankful to have been brought back to The Woods to give back to a place that gave so much to me. Commencement is just one reminder of why giving back and serving students today is vital. SMWC graduates earn more than a degree. They grow as leaders, build their confidence and form relationships that last beyond the front gates.
When you make a gift to The Woods, you’re supporting more than the College. You’re investing in future leaders and difference-makers. You’re enhancing every scholarship awarded, each hands-on learning experience, every relationship built and much more. You are reminding students that you believe in them and the mission of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. As the Class of 2026 begins their next adventure, remember that today’s students serve as future Woods alumni, who will continue Saint Mother Theodore Guerin’s legacy and support generations to come.
