A message from the Advancement Officer

Christmas time is here…perhaps lyrics to a carol come to mind, reciting the Christmas Story or remembering your favorite holiday traditions. Personally, Christmas is always one of my favorite times of year – not because of gifts, the snow or watching Christmas movies (believe me, I watch a lot of them), but because this time of year often serves as a reminder of why the season of giving is so important.
The season of giving aligns so beautifully with our mission here at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. The holiday season reminds us that generosity isn’t measured by the size of a gift, but rather the intention behind it. As someone who enjoys giving gifts, I feel most fulfilled when I see someone’s smile or joy when they open a gift I got them. The fulfillment doesn’t come from the amount spent or the time put into wrapping; it’s about the intention behind spotting the “perfect” gift that reminds you of someone.
Some gifts bring joy, while others bring hope. Supporting students, especially during this time of year, is powerful. A gift to the Woods Fund this month can serve as a stress reliever, open doors and remind students they aren’t alone. It serves as reassurance that someone sees their potential and wants to invest in their future success. Together, we are strengthening The Woods community, and remembering that giving back and helping others often gives us the greatest joy.
As we celebrate Christmas, I’m reminded why showing kindness and giving back brings much joy. Your generosity lights a way for Woods students, now and for years to come.
Gifts made to the Woods Fund from December 1 to January 31, 2026, will count towards Woods Giving Day! There are multiple ways to make a gift to the Woods Fund:
