Blog | 01.26.2026

It really does take a village to bring students in to experience Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC).

Let’s introduce some of the first people prospective students will meet when they begin their journeys to becoming Pomeroys.

First up, Chris Lozier, SMWC’s associate vice president of enrollment management!

With a decade of experience at The Woods, Lozier says there’s no day “typical” when you lead a team of six that helps students achieve their educational goals.

“Every day is a little different depending on the time of the year, if we have campus events happening and how many visitors we have coming to campus for tours,” said Lozier, who started his career in the hospitality industry. “I enjoy that every day can be different and could have a different focus.”

Lozier was no stranger to campus, even before he took over as head of the admissions team.

“I live very close to campus and have always been on campus for outside events,” he said. “It always looked like a great place to work, and there is just a positive energy to being on a college campus. I really enjoy working with students and helping them achieve their goals.”

The process begins with providing students with the information they need to know about SMWC and the personality of the College. And then, it’s a matter of staying in touch and engaging with students as they make their decision on what school they want to enroll at once high school is in their rearview mirror.

“Selecting a college is a big decision for a young adult,” he said. “We want to ensure that students understand who we are at SMWC and have all the necessary information to make an informed college decision.”

For Lozier and his team, though, their connections don’t end once students arrive at The Avenue gates for move-in day.

“We stay in touch with students throughout their time here at The Woods,” he said. “You are not a number here at SMWC. No one gets lost in The Woods, we have great staff and faculty ready to help you along your journey.”

And the Office of Admissions makes it easy for prospective students to connect with the office and stay in touch throughout the entire college search process.

“We are happy to interact with prospective students in whichever way is easiest for them – text, email, phone calls or simply showing up in person at campus,” Lozier said.

Why wait! There’s no shortage of ways to reach SMWC’s Office of Admissions:
