The Arete (Αρετή) Journal of Excellence in Global Leadership has named “Perception of Success Factors of Women in Leadership Roles: An Exploratory Study of Gender and Glass Ceiling in China,” by Hongmei Han, Ph.D., Mengdi Liu, Keith Miller, Ph.D. and Phylis Lan Lin, emerita professor, as winner of the Contribution of Excellence (COE) award.

The award is handed out by Arete, a journal published in collaboration with the Global Leadership Institute and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) with Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI) as website host.

The Contribution of Excellence award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of global leadership, highlighting innovative research, impactful insights and exemplary dedication to advancing leadership practices worldwide.

The winning research looked at how individual, organizational and socio-cultural factors influence perceptions of the glass ceiling among 548 professional women across various industries and job titles.

The winning publication was selected based on several criteria, including global impact, cross-discipline, relevance, thought-provoking, innovativeness, cultural awareness and diversity. The winner was chosen by a group that included members of the PALNI, previous award winners and faculty in SMWC’s Ph.D. in Global Leadership program.
