“Having an accessible health clinic on campus results in early treatment and preventative care for our students,” said Dottie L. King, Ph.D., president of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. “We are grateful for our donors and for the partnership of Union Foundation for making possible our commitment to expand health and wellness.”

SMWC and Union Health leadership as well as students, faculty and staff were present at the ceremonial ribbon cutting for the SMWC Health Services Clinic on Friday. Community members and leaders also attended to show support for the new clinic including Duke Bennett, Mayor of Terre Haute; Tony Goben, Southwestern Indiana Regional Director for Senator Joe Donnelly; Hunter W Bisch, Field Representative of Rep. Larry Bucshon; Vigo County Commissioner Judy Anderson and David Haynes, President of the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce.

“We are extremely excited about this partnership with Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.” said Steve Holman, president and chief executive officer of Union Health.  “Our mission is to provide compassionate healthcare of the highest quality, and we look forward to doing so right here on campus as part of the SMWC Health Services Clinic.”

Conveniently located on the first floor of the Rooney Library, the clinic is comprised of a lobby area, office and two exam rooms. Garmong Construction Services and Sycamore Engineering were partners in planning, design and construction of the facility.

The clinic will serve students, faculty, staff, students, Sisters of Providence and their employees.

The health services for students in the campus program (including commuter students) are covered by tuition and fees. All campus students will utilize the clinic on a walk-in basis and pay no fees for individual services.  Clinic hours are Monday and Wednesday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Friday closed.
