Ashlyn Hunley
Where is your hometown?
Dugger, Indiana
What high school did you attend?
Linton Stockton High School
What is your major?
I am an elementary education major with a minor in leadership studies.
Why did you choose The Woods?
I chose The Woods because of the close-knit, family-like community here. Coming from a small town myself, I absolutely love the “everybody loves everybody” feel here. I love how everyone knows each other by name and greets each other with a smile! I was also really drawn to the small class sizes. It was important to me to go to a school where the faculty want to help you succeed, and that is definitely the case at The Woods.
What do you do for fun on campus?
One of my favorite things to do is ride the Pomeroy Pedal bikes around campus. I really love going out to visit the alpacas during the day, and riding around listening to music in the evening!
What do you like about living in Le Fer?
Since the majority of our on-campus students live in Le Fer Hall, we have the opportunity to meet so many people from every year and major all in one building! It is such a special thing that one may not get to experience on a larger campus.
What advice do you have for freshmen?
As a freshman myself, I have really enjoyed going to all the activities on campus and trying to get as involved as I can. The more things you go to, the more friends you will make here, and the more fun you will have!
Reflect on your time at The Woods:
Only having been here a few short weeks, I have already fallen in love with the campus and community here at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. I can’t wait for the next four years!
