The Woods offers virtual registration

News | 05.04.2020

Each year, all incoming first-year students and their families attend the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Student Registration Day to prepare for the fall semester. This year was no different except the process was a virtual registration held April 20, due to COVID-19.

“We, along with students and families, believe education is a solid investment for the future especially during these unprecedented times,” said Brennan Randolph, vice president for enrollment management. “We will continue to prepare students for success whether remotely or on campus.”

Students and their families logged on to a video conference and received a warm welcome from President Dottie King, Ph.D. Several campus leaders made virtual presentations on academics, academic support, employment opportunities, security, student life, student support services and more. One-on-one virtual meetings between students and advisors will continue over the next few weeks to create fall schedules, map out degree paths and develop a rapport for future guidance. Families were also invited to schedule meetings with the Business Office and the Office of Financial Aid for discussions regarding affordability and scholarship opportunities.

“Having a virtual meeting is a way to connect on a personal level during these trying times,” said Darla Hopper, associate vice president for financial aid and admissions. “We are helping students and parents to understand the financial aid awards, costs, payment plan options and the next steps.” To complement the virtual meetings, The Woods provided access to a series of online videos from a variety of departments to assist students as they begin the journey of college life.
