Master of Music Therapy (MAMT)

The Master of Arts in Music Therapy program at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is designed for qualified music therapists who seek an advanced understanding of the therapeutic uses of music, especially as applied to psychotherapy and medicine. Emphasis is given to understanding and applying theories of music therapy, and counseling, and to developing the therapeutic self.

The Master of Music Therapy program is approved by the American Music Therapy Association. All music programs at SMWC are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

In the MAMT program you will:

  • Study with experts in the field of music therapy.
  • Enhance skills utilized throughout the therapeutic process.
  • Attain GIM level 1 training.
  • Become engaged in music therapy research.
  • Study the Nordoff-Robbins approach to Improvisation.
