1. Why did you choose SMWC?
I chose SMWC because of its welcoming environment. It really felt like a tight-knit community even upon touring here. I also had the opportunity to run cross country and track & field, as well as join the dance team. I loved that there were so many ways I could be a part of the College.
2. Why did you choose your major?
I started out studying Elementary Education, but I felt like physical education was a better fit for me. I’ve always loved working with children and feeling like I’ve made a difference in their lives. I also love being active, playing games and having fun! I think being in the gymnasium lets me be who I am, and do what I am meant for After making the switch to Kinesiology, I definitely think I was right!
3. What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is my dorm room. I’ve lived there for the past three years and it’s been full of so many friends, karaoke parties, sleepovers and memories! It is where I met my best friends who have helped me grow and thrive here at The Woods.
4. What is a favorite memory you have from your Woods experience?
It’s so hard to choose a favorite memory about my Woods experience. Within these last few years, I’ve been presented with so many opportunities. I’ve been a college athlete on three different teams, where I’ve made such fun memories with all my favorite people. I’ve also made friends from all over the world! I spent most of last year playing card games and running late night errands with my 4C friends. Those are memories I’ll never be able to replace. I am also involved with Presidential Corps and as a Peer Educator in the Student Counseling and Wellness Center. Through those activities, I have learned how to be a leader and part of a team, and how to step outside my comfort zone.
5. How do you plan to stay connected to SMWC after graduating?
Next year, I plan on student teaching through SMWC. I will definitely be proud of where my education came from and will continue wearing my Woods Ring. My professors, advisors, coaches and peers did so much for me throughout my time here. I will recognize that forever!
