Leishmarie Virella Miranda

Name: Leishmarie Virella Miranda
Major: Education P-3 Mild Intervention
Hometown: Bayamón, Puerto Rico

1. Why did you choose SMWC?
I chose SMWC because it gives me the opportunity to continue my education while playing volleyball. I also love the small, welcoming community that makes me feel at home, even though I am far from Puerto Rico.

2. Why did you choose your major?
I chose Education as my major because I have always loved working with children and watching them learn and grow. For me, the most beautiful part of being a teacher is having the opportunity to make a positive impact on each child’s life. I want my students to feel loved, supported and confident in themselves. Knowing that I can be someone who helps them grow and create happy memories in their school experience is what makes teaching so special to me.

3. What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the Hamilton Arena in Jeanne Knoerle Sports and Recreation Center because it holds so many special memories from playing volleyball with my teammates.

4. What is a favorite memory you have from your Woods experience?
My favorite memory is all the time I’ve spent with my friends. We’ve had so many fun moments together that I’ll always remember.

5. How do you plan to stay connected to SMWC after graduating?
I plan to stay connected to SMWC by keeping in touch with my friends. I hope to keep up with the volleyball team and watch games when I can.
