News | 01.30.2023

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) was again listed in the 2023 Best Online Programs rankings by U.S. News & World Report released in January.

SMWC was one of just 11 colleges in Indiana to be listed in the bachelor’s rankings and is the top-ranked Indiana private college on the list.

“I am proud that Woods Online is once again listed in the U.S. News & World Report Best Online Programs,” said Janet Clark, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic and student affairs. “Our online program has been successful for decades, so it is a true testament to our faculty who continue to work hard to keep our online students engaged and provide an excellent learning experience.”

SMWC was also listed on the 2023 Best Online Bachelor’s in Business Programs and was one of just eight programs in Indiana that were ranked.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College offering distance learning, and Woods Online (WOL) is the second oldest program in the country. The College and its WOL program have been leaders and innovators in college online learning. SMWC has 21 bachelor’s programs offered online, including the popular degree programs of music therapy equivalency, education, human resource management and psychology. SMWC recently added an online Paramedic to BSN degree to the online program.

There are several start dates for Woods Online, including August, October, January, March and May. Classes are designed in an eight-week format to help students complete their degrees quickly. The College’s transfer-friendly policy helps students use credits already earned to count towards their degree.
