Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kari Wolfe, CPA, as interim vice president for finance. She began her duties on January 1.
In announcing the appointment, Dottie King, Ph.D., president of SMWC, praised Wolfe’s effectiveness as a leader and efficiency.
“I appreciate Kari’s willingness to serve the College in this important role,” King said.
Wolfe brings a decade of finance experience. Hired in 2017, she previously served the College as the controller and associate vice president for finance. When the position of interim vice president for finance opened, she was happy to help.
“At first, it was a little scary but exciting. The President’s Cabinet and the Business Office have been very helpful throughout the process. Everyone on campus has stepped up and offered to assist however they can to make the transition easier. I’ve enjoyed it so far.”
Serving on the President’s Cabinet, her vision for the department exceeds just examining numbers.
“Higher Education was new to me when I started. I’ve learned that it’s very rewarding, though. You’re interacting with students, not just customers. You’re able to see them go through a process that helps them become better suited to live a better life,” she said.
Wolfe graduated from Indiana State University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
She and her husband, Austin, are proud parents to two daughters.
